If you struggle to hit your driver straight, stop guessing at swing fixes and start paying attention to what the golf ball is actually telling you.
In this video, I break down the three concepts that completely changed my driving: Strike, Start, and Curve. Understanding these three pieces can help you diagnose why you’re hitting slices, hooks, pushes, pulls, and other costly driver misses—and identify what you actually need to work on.
You’ll learn how strike location affects ball flight through gear effect, why the clubface has such a large influence on where your drives start, and how your swing path contributes to curvature. More importantly, I’ll show you how to put all three together so you can stop making random swing changes every time you hit a bad drive.
I also share the practice method that helped take my driver from one of the weakest parts of my game to one of my biggest strengths as a +3 handicap golfer.
In this video, we cover:
• How to diagnose a golf slice or hook
• Why heel and toe strikes change driver ball flight
• How gear effect influences curvature
• What your driver start direction tells you about the clubface
• How swing path creates draws, fades, hooks, and slices
• Why clubface control is so important with the driver
• How to practice strike location using foot spray
• Why exaggerating the opposite miss can help change your swing
• How to isolate one driver problem instead of fixing everything at once
• How a launch monitor can help—but why you don’t necessarily need one
The goal isn’t to build a perfect-looking golf swing. It’s to understand your tendencies, improve the impact conditions causing your biggest misses, and make your driver more predictable.
The next time your driver gets wild, remember:
STRIKE: Where did you hit the face?
START: Where did the ball begin?
CURVE: What did it do from there?
Use those clues to identify the problem, work on the right skill, and make your biggest misses less extreme.
