Ja’Marr Chase was ranked No. 16 in the NFL Top 100, while Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow came in all the way down at No. 44. The rankings put two of Cincinnati’s most important players — and two of the NFL’s most recognizable stars — outside the spots many Bengals fans expected to see them.
Chase’s No. 16 ranking comes after establishing himself as one of the premier wide receivers in football. Since entering the NFL, Chase has been the centerpiece of the Cincinnati Bengals passing attack and one of the league’s most dangerous offensive weapons. His combination of explosive plays, production and chemistry with Burrow has made the Burrow-to-Chase connection one of the defining quarterback-wide receiver duos in the NFL.
But the biggest surprise may be Burrow falling to No. 44.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback has already led the franchise to a Super Bowl appearance and back-to-back AFC Championship Games while developing into one of the NFL’s most prominent quarterbacks. Burrow’s accuracy, processing, toughness and ability to perform in high-pressure situations have helped transform Cincinnati into a team with championship expectations.
Despite that track record, the NFL Top 100 placed 43 players ahead of Joe Burrow.
The rankings are particularly notable because the NFL Top 100 is based on voting by NFL players, making the placement of Burrow and Chase an interesting look at how their peers view Cincinnati’s two biggest stars.
For the Bengals, everything continues to revolve around No. 9 and No. 1. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase have been together since their college days at LSU and reunited in Cincinnati when the Bengals selected Chase with the fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Together, they helped change the trajectory of the franchise almost immediately.
