Florida State Football 2026 Preview: Can Mike Norvell Save His Job With Ashton Daniels?

Florida State enters Year 7 under Mike Norvell coming off a 5-7 season, and the pressure is impossible to ignore. Norvell is taking back offensive play-calling duties, but the biggest question is his decision to turn the offense over to Auburn and Stanford transfer Ashton Daniels. Daniels brings size and mobility, but he has also been an inconsistent passer throughout his career, making his fit behind a rebuilt offensive line one of the biggest variables on a roster that desperately needs immediate results.

There is enough talent elsewhere to make the Seminoles interesting. Duce Robinson gives Florida State a star receiver, Tre Wisner and Ousmane Kromah headline an exciting backfield, and Tony White’s defense showed signs of progress last season. The problem is a brutal schedule that opens with SMU before trips to Alabama and Miami and also includes Clemson, Florida, Louisville, Virginia and Pitt. We’re not completely out on Florida State, but this feels like the year Norvell has to prove the rebuild is actually going somewhere.
