ATHLOS, the women's-only track venture headed by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, has announced its expansion to two meets in 2026 with more than $2.1 million distributed in prize money across seven events.

The New York City meet returns to Icahn Stadium on Friday, October 2nd. A second meet — believed to be at an international venue — will be announced at a later date and held before the NYC event. Both will take place after the 2026 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Each meet will feature seven events with six athletes per event. Athletes accumulate points across both meets, and the cumulative leader wins the ATHLOS championship title, a $25,000 bonus, and a Tiffany & Co. crown.

Prize money runs from $65,000 for first place down to $6,000 for sixth, per event. And in a first for the sport, winners at this year's meets will earn equity in the league itself. As Ohanian put it on CBS Mornings: "We think: why not the same for our athletes? We're building this league with them."

In this video, we break down everything we know about the 2026 expansion — the format, the scoring system, the prize structure, the equity stake, the venue questions, and what the team-based format Ohanian teased earlier might mean. Plus the open questions: where the second meet lands, whether the previously announced team format is still in play, and what role advisor-owners Gabby Thomas, Sha'Carri Richardson, and Tara Davis-Woodhall will play this year.
