Last night saw World Champion Ahmed Jaouadi race in his first SCM outing in quite some time. He swam the 800 Free by himself, clocking 7:33.79, the #2 time in the world this year. After the race, the Tunisian national said he was pretty pleased with the result, noting he hadn't raced SCM in two years.
When asked about his summer, Jaouadi revealed that after NCAA's he had taken two months off training in order to take some mental rest in preparation for the next two years. Because Jaouadi didn't put much stock in racing this summer (he swam at the Mediterranean Games on 6-7 weeks of training), he decided to take a big break so that he would be refreshed and ready to put his head down over the next two seasons.
Jaouadi is now moving toward defending his world titles in 2027 and claiming the one medal he doesn't have yet in 2028: Olympic Gold.
