Longtime SiriusXM NHL Network Radio host Steve Kouleas joined Nick Alberga & Jay Rosehill for a brutally candid conversation about the direction of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Simply put, Kouleas believes Toronto’s Stanley Cup window is closed — and that the organization should seriously consider a rebuild. He explains why he doesn’t view the Leafs as a true contender anymore, what they can learn from the playoff rise of the Montreal Canadiens, and why patience may be the only realistic path forward.
Additionally, Kouleas discusses Mitch Marner’s playoff resurgence in Vegas, Toronto’s coaching search, and why Jay Woodcroft could make sense if the Leafs are pivoting toward a reset. He also questions why Bruce Cassidy would even want the Leafs job right now. In one of the interview’s most memorable moments, Kouleas joked that the team Toronto eventually wins with is probably “12 or 13 years old playing major peewee right now.”
Plus, he shares his thoughts on what the Leafs should do with the No. 1 overall pick.
