How Many NHL Teams are TRUE Stanley Cup Contenders? | Daily Faceoff Live

The Oilers are rolling, the Capitals are off to a strong start, and the Stanley Cup contender debate is already heating up.

The guys start with the early returns from Washington, where Alex Tuch has scored three goals in his first three games with the Capitals and Logan Thompson has been stellar in net. Could Washington have the makings of a legitimate Stanley Cup contender?

Then it's time for the Oilers Rush. Edmonton leads the NHL with 22 goals through four games and hasn't lost in regulation, while the line of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Vasily Podkolzin has been dominating at 5-on-5. The guys also discuss Devon Levi and whether he's starting to find his game.

From there, the conversation turns to the true Stanley Cup contenders. With a recent Daily Faceoff piece suggesting only six teams have a legitimate shot at winning the Cup, the guys debate which teams they believe in, who may have been left off the list, and whether anyone outside those six can actually win it all.

Finally, it's Overreaction SZN, with the guys debating whether Evan Bouchard is currently the best defenseman in the NHL, whether the Winnipeg Jets can finish top three in the Central Division, and whether Kyle Connor can score 50 goals this season.
