Why Yelling At Players Doesn't Work (And What To Do Instead) w/ Dan Abrahams
Basketball
Dan Abrahams makes a point here that I think every coach needs to sit with. Shouting can get you compliance for a minute, but it comes with a tax: anxiety, less enjoyment, and eventually burnout.
The better lever is constraints. Don't yell at a player to get to the corner faster, just cut the time limit from ten seconds to eight. Same intent, completely different psychology. That's not soft coaching, that's smart session design.
Constraints change behavior. Fear just changes it temporarily. #shorts
