Malachi Toney started the second half of Miami's season opener 38 yards short of the Hurricanes' single-game receiving yards record. On Miami's second possession of the half he broke the record with a 47-yard touchdown reception, his third of the game. That gave Toney 229 receiving yards. The previous record was 220 yards by Eddie Brown in 1984.
