Jeff Brohm has gone 10-4, 9-4 and 9-4 in his first three seasons at Louisville while repeatedly rebuilding his roster through the transfer portal, and now he has to do it again. Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz becomes Brohm’s fourth starting quarterback in four years, bringing intriguing mobility but almost no meaningful college experience. With major turnover along the offensive line and questions at receiver, the plan may be to lean heavily on Kienholz’s legs alongside Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown until the rest of the offense finds its footing.
Fortunately, Louisville may have one of the best defensive foundations in the ACC, with strength at all three levels despite changes at coordinator and in the secondary. The Cardinals also have a schedule that makes another run toward double-digit wins very plausible if the offense comes together. Brohm has earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to constructing an offense on the fly, but can he really keep doing this every year?
