One year ago, Michael Harris II went 178 straight plate appearances without drawing a walk - the longest such streak by a Braves hitter in the team's Atlanta history - and was hitting .205, the sixth-lowest average of any qualified hitter in the sport. Today he's one of the most dangerous bats in the National League with a top-of-the-league expected batting average, and they still left him off the All-Star team.
This is the full story of Michael Harris II - the rise, the fall, and the comeback. From a flower-picking kid in Stockbridge, Georgia, to NL Rookie of the Year, to rock bottom, to the biggest second-half turnaround baseball has seen since 1933. We break down the amateur climb, the minor league ladder (and the Triple-A level he skipped entirely), his debut against a future Cy Young winner, the collapse, the one swing change that flipped everything, and the analytical case for why this comeback is real.
