Abbott enters the game with a 4-4 record, a 3.95 ERA, and 58 strikeouts on the season. While his overall numbers have fluctuated at times, the Reds' southpaw has been one of the club's most reliable starters recently, posting a 2.47 ERA over his last nine starts dating back to late April. Cincinnati will need another strong outing from Abbott against a Yankees lineup that remains dangerous from top to bottom despite dealing with injuries.
New York will counter with Warren, who has emerged as a key piece of the Yankees' rotation in 2026. The right-hander enters with a 7-1 record, a 3.47 ERA, and 76 strikeouts while helping New York maintain its position near the top of the American League standings. Warren has experienced some ups and downs recently but has consistently given the Yankees a chance to win whenever he takes the mound.
Offensively, the Reds will be looking for production from several young contributors. Rookie infielder Sal Stewart has been one of Cincinnati's hottest hitters, carrying an impressive .310 batting average while continuing to establish himself as a middle-of-the-order threat. JJ Bleday has also provided a spark for the lineup in recent weeks, while Cincinnati hopes to generate more traffic on the bases after managing just four hits in Friday's loss.
For New York, first baseman Ben Rice has been one of the most productive hitters in baseball this season. Rice enters the matchup hitting over .300 and launched his 21st home run of the year in Friday's victory. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Anthony Volpe also contributed offensively in the series opener, giving the Yankees plenty of momentum heading into Saturday's contest.
With the Reds looking to even the series and the Yankees aiming to continue their recent hot stretch, Saturday's matchup between Andrew Abbott and Will Warren could go a long way toward determining the outcome. Expect a playoff-like atmosphere in the Bronx as two talented young starters take center stage in a compelling Reds vs. Yankees showdown.
