On today's episode of The Sheet, Jeff Marek breaks down the latest news, headlines, and biggest storylines from around the NHL, recapping last night's action and looking ahead to a busy weekend of hockey. Jeff dives into the ongoing Dylan Larkin situation with the Detroit Red Wings, discussing what the future could hold for the Red Wings captain, as well as the continued uncertainty surrounding Connor Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets. At 1:05 PM ET, Utah Mammoth General Manager Bill Armstrong joins the show to discuss one of the wildest NHL offseasons in recent memory, including blockbuster trades, offer sheets, massive contracts, and the impact of the rising salary cap on player salaries and roster construction. Armstrong shares his perspective on navigating a rapidly changing NHL landscape as a general manager before turning his attention to the Utah Mammoth, their offseason moves, encouraging start to the 2026-27 NHL season, expectations for the team, and what could still be on the horizon in Utah. Later, former NHL general manager and executive Brian Burke joins Jeff to share his unfiltered thoughts on the opening weeks of the NHL season, which teams have impressed him, which clubs are raising concerns, and the biggest developments around the league from the perspective of someone who has spent decades building and evaluating NHL rosters.
