Must-see TV. In one of the most anticipated matchups of the early college football season, it did not disappoint. The No. 23 Louisville Cardinals outlasted the No. 16 SMU Mustangs, 41-31. It was a back-and-forth affair that saw Kevin Jennings & Lincoln Kienholz battle it out as signal-callers, with Kienholz completing 14-23 passes, securing 219 total yards and 3 touchdowns, and Jennings going 24-35, with 257 total yards, a touchdown, and 2 interceptions. It was a battle of great running games as well as Keyjuan Brown and company racked up 265 yards on the ground for the Cards, and Kendrick Raphael led the way with 197 of the Mustangs, 257 rushing yards and three scores. Keyjuan Brown busted two 50+ yard touchdown runs in the 2nd half on his way to 163 yards on the ground, and Isaac Brown scored on a 27-yard run and added 67 yards on just 10 carries as well.
