The Texas Rangers are in scramble mode with their starting rotation after right-hander Jack Leiter underwent surgery Tuesday to remove a loose body from his right ankle. The team didn’t offer a timeline for his return, but he could be out until August. In the meantime, the Rangers will search for answers to fill Leiter’s spot. There are multiple internal candidates, beginning with Cal Quantrill and Joe Ross. The season won’t stop for them. They finished a three-game series at Miami on Wednesday and still have seven games to go on their road trip. Next up: a four-game series at Toronto, whose fans are stuffing the All-Star Game ballot box. It could cost Ezequiel Duran his first All-Star appearance.
