Race season is here. Folsom Swimrun is coming up, Casco Bay is set to be one of its biggest editions yet for its 10th anniversary, and ÖTILLÖ is on the horizon. We know a lot of new folks are joining the sport this year, so we're pulling from over 25 swimruns of experience to share what we actually do to show up on the start line feeling ready.
This one is the newest in our Swimrun 101 series, and it is built around one question, what does it actually mean to be race ready. For us that means standing at the start line feeling prepared, in the right headspace, and confident you have done the things that set you up for the best possible day on course, whether it is your first sprint or your nineteenth ÖTILLÖ.
We break down five tips plus a bonus. Studying the course and terrain ahead of time so you are not cramming the night before. Sorting your day before logistics, travel, nutrition, and partner check ins. Checking your kit and dialing in your fueling plan without waiting until the last minute. Locking in your morning of routine, from breakfast to coffee to timing. And getting your head right in those final minutes before the gun goes off, plus a bonus tip on why leaning into the swimrun community might be the most underrated prep of all.
