The Detroit Red Wings are running out of time… and answers.
After spending most of the season near the top of the Eastern Conference, the Wings have now dropped to 10th place following brutal back-to-back losses to the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators.
Against Boston, it felt like a win stolen.
Jeremy Swayman stood on his head, stopping everything and completely flipping the game.
But against Ottawa? That’s where things get concerning.
The Senators came in:
On a back-to-back
Missing Jake Sanderson and Thomas Chabot
Starting two rookie defensemen
And still… they controlled the game.
Detroit found themselves down 3-0, clawed back to 3-2, but couldn’t finish—again.
Even with:
Dylan Larkin returning and scoring
Dominik Shine stepping up with a goal
A strong overall effort
It wasn’t enough.
Now the big question:
👉 Does this team actually have the elite talent to get over the hump?
And inside the locker room, Moritz Seider is starting to sound like the voice of accountability:
“That’s a very winnable game… if we’re not upset with ourselves, we’re doing something wrong.”
With only 11 games left and likely needing ~98 points to make the playoffs, the margin for error is gone.
So what happens next?
Can the Wings respond?
Is this another March collapse?
Or is this finally where leadership takes over?
Let’s talk about it.
