Canadian cliff diver Molly Carlson made history off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, becoming the first woman to dive off an iceberg. Months of extensive training and preparation went into this project to ultimately complete this incredible athletic achievement.
Alongside legendary Canadian ice climber Will Gadd, who became the first reported person to scale the ice-covered rock wall next to the Horseshoe Falls at Niagara Falls. Molly Carlson learned multiple new skills to take on this challenge, including ice climbing and cold-water training. Against the unique backdrop of the Canadian coastline, the duo navigated through several unpredictable environmental challenges, including dynamic ocean swells, iceberg movements, and weather conditions.
Finally, they climbed to the top of a gnarly free-floating iceberg, for Carlson to achieve a remarkable world’s-first dive and to make history.
Molly Carlson is one of the key athletes in Red Bull Cliff Diving. The 28-year-old Canadian won the 2026 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series final event in Polignano a Mare, Italy, a few weeks ago and is a four-time runner-up in the World Series Standings.
