Down Late and Still Found a Way — The Valkyries Just Showed Everyone What They Are Made Of

The Golden State Valkyries find themselves down late, refuse to fold, and Gabby Williams hits the three that seals it. The postgame presser makes one thing clear: this team has the fight it is going to need in the playoffs. Veronica Burton set the tone from the opening tip. Fire, urgency, and aggression that does not go up and down. Getting downhill, getting in the paint, installing confidence in her teammates and lighting a fire under the group. That is her responsibility and tonight she owned it completely.

When Veronica picked up foul trouble and Gabby took a seat, Kaitlyn Chen stepped into the moment. She has been told all season to trust herself and go score. Tonight she did exactly that. VB told her she could score whenever she wanted, a few went in, and the confidence carried the Valkyries through the hardest stretch of the game. Nobody pouted when things got hard. Nobody put their head down. The group took it one play at a time, stayed together, and found a way back. The playoffs are not always going to be pretty. You are not going to play perfectly every night. What matters is whether you have the fight to stay in it when things get hard. Tonight the Valkyries showed they do.
