The bull case for Terrance Ferguson is simple. He is a talented rising second
year player in an offense that produced a ton at the position last season, it
just was never centralized around one player. Looking at team PPR points from
tight ends alone last year, the Cardinals were first, which makes sense with
Trey McBride going nuclear. Number two was the Los Angeles Rams.
Ian Hartitz's best case is that Ferguson is a starting tight end one and the
de facto wide receiver three. Los Angeles did bring back Tutu Atwell, but they
paid him nine or ten million on a one year deal and that still was not enough
to stop him being a healthy scratch for large parts of the second half. When
Davante Adams got hurt down the stretch, Ferguson's snaps did not jump either.
Sean McVay and Ferguson have both talked about the Rams asking him to learn
every position on the offense except running back. Scouts honor: if Ferguson
runs a route rate north of 70 percent in week one, he is in Ian's top ten
tight ends by week two. Very much worth a bench stash.
