The Golden State Valkyries authored one of the most remarkable comebacks in WNBA history, overcoming a 16-point second-half deficit to beat the Dallas Wings 77- 73 in Game 3 and secure the franchise's first-ever playoff series victory. The win sends Golden State to a semifinal matchup with the third-seeded Las Vegas Aces, with Game 1 set for Sunday at Chase Center.
The game delivered one dramatic moment after another, including Head Coach Natalie Nakase briefly collapsing on the court during a fourth-quarter timeout before being helped up by her assistant coaches and finishing the game on the bench. Despite the scare, the Valkyries never lost their composure. Veronica Burton delivered a near triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, while Gabby Williams added 19 points, Tiffany Hayes scored 18 off the bench, and Kiah Stokes anchored the defense with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Golden State's offense went cold early in the third quarter, missing 15 consecutive shots at one stretch and falling behind by as many as 16. But Williams' three-pointer with 20 seconds left in the third cut the deficit to three, sparking the rally that carried into the fourth. After Dallas pushed the lead back to seven, Burton's layup trimmed it to two, and the Valkyries kept chipping away until Williams' 17-foot pull-up with 1:17 remaining gave Golden State the lead for good. Her four clutch free throws down the stretch sealed it as the defense held strong, limiting Arike Ogunbowale's hot shooting and holding Paige Bueckers to just 3 of 14 from the field in crunch time.
