The Japanese women's volleyball team, ranked 6th in the FIVB world rankings (as of the start of the match), faced Turkey, ranked 3rd, on Saturday, July 11th, and lost in sets 1-3 (22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 22-25), bringing their overall record to 7 wins and 4 losses.

The first set began with a point scored by Yukiko Wada. Both teams displayed tenacious defense from the start, resulting in long rallies, but it was Turkey who scored. Japan's spikes aimed at difficult spots went out of bounds, putting Turkey behind 9-12. In the middle of the set, Mayu Ishikawa won a long rally with a back attack, and then Haruyo Shimamura blocked an opponent's spike with a single block to tie the score at 13-13. After that, both teams exchanged side-outs, but Turkey broke serve consecutively from 19-19 to 19-21, prompting Japan to call a timeout. After the timeout, Wada scored from a dig by Ishikawa to tie the score at 21-21 in the final stages of the set. Turkey's powerful serves disrupted Japan's serve reception, leading to consecutive breaks, and Japan lost the first set 22-25.

The second set began with Turkey scoring consecutive points. Japan quickly responded with consecutive points from Wada's serve, resulting in a back-and-forth battle in the early stages. Turkey's powerful spikes threatened to pull away, but Japan prevented them from gaining momentum with service aces from Ishikawa, spikes from Wada, and quick attacks from Yamada, keeping the score close at 16-16 until the middle of the set. Japan took a slight lead at 19-17 with a spike from Wada, prompting Turkey to call a timeout. However, a powerful spike from Wada made it 20-19, putting Japan first in the 20-point range. Towards the end of the set, Japan made some great receives to pick up Turkey's powerful spikes, and connected with attacks from outside hitters like Wada and Ishikawa to score points, winning the second set 25-22.

The third set begins with a quick attack from Yamada. Turkey attacks with powerful offense, but Japan counters with a service ace from Ishikawa and spikes from Wada and Sato, resulting in a close match at 14-14 in the first half. Japan takes the lead at 17-15 with a break from a spike by Wada, but Turkey's powerful spikes and blocks put them ahead, and they take the lead at 17-18. The match becomes close again at 20-20, but Turkey scores consecutive points, putting Japan down 20-23. Ishikawa's back attack almost puts Japan back in the game, but Japan loses the set 22-25.

In the fourth set, Erika Sakae was put into the starting lineup and the match began with a service ace from her. Japan got off to a good start, but in the early stages, Turkey took the lead 4-7. Turkey extended their lead to 8-13, but a challenge overturned the call, making it 9-12. Japan wanted to seize the momentum from here, but they were unable to close the gap against Turkey's powerful attacks, and the set ended with Turkey leading 16-20. Japan showed tenacity until the end, but lost the set 22-25, and was defeated 1-3 in sets.
