On the underwater adventures dive clubs trip to the Maldives, we had the pleasure of a night dive where a group of manta rays came to feed on the plankton in our torch lights.
This was a once in a lifetime experience and a true pleasure for all the divers from the club who had the chance to experience this.
Manta rays are the largest of the largest type of ray and belong in two sub-species, Mobula birostris and Mobula alfredi which were the ones we were lucky enough to encounter on this dive. Although the ones we were with were the smaller of the two sub-species they can still reach over 5 metres from tip to tip. If you would like to know more about manta rays I have put a link here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manta_ray
We dived with emperor dives onboard Emperor voyager live-aboard and you can find their website here emperormaldives.com
