Thailand vs Indonesia | Highlights | AVC Women's Continental Championship 2026. Thailand delivered a dominant performance against Indonesia in the preliminary phase of the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship, winning this Southeast Asian clash in straight sets.

The match was played on August 24, 2026, at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium in Tianjin, China. Thailand won 3–0 with set scores of 25–16, 25–18 and 25–15, outscoring Indonesia 75–49 across the match. It was Thailand’s second consecutive straight-set victory in Pool B.

Thailand controlled the encounter from beginning to end. Their serving placed Indonesia’s reception under constant pressure, while their organized blocking and disciplined defense prevented Indonesia from establishing a consistent attacking rhythm. Thailand also committed fewer costly errors and converted its transition opportunities much more efficiently.

In the opening set, Thailand quickly established control with strong serving and fast offensive combinations. Captain and setter Pornpun Guedpard distributed the ball effectively across the net, allowing Thailand to attack through both the wings and the middle. Indonesia struggled to respond to Thailand’s speed and precision, and the defending Asian champions comfortably won the set 25–16.

Indonesia offered greater resistance during the second set and stayed closer through the early and middle stages. However, Thailand remained composed and continued to execute at a higher level. Timely attacks and better execution during the decisive points allowed Thailand to create separation and take the second set 25–18.

Thailand produced its most commanding performance in the third set. The team maintained its serving pressure, defended with discipline and converted Indonesia’s mistakes into points. Indonesia could not generate the comeback needed to extend the match, and Thailand completed the sweep by winning the final set 25–15.

Outside hitter Sasipaporn Janthawisut finished as the match’s leading scorer with 16 points. She provided Thailand with another reliable attacking option and continued her impressive start to the championship after scoring 19 points in the opening victory over Australia. Pimpichaya Kokram and Chatchu-On Moksri also made important offensive contributions, while Thailand benefited from the experience of Ajcharaporn Kongyot, Thatdao Nuekjang, Pornpun Guedpard and libero Piyanut Pannoy.

After the match, Ajcharaporn explained that Thailand wanted to finish the contest efficiently and conserve energy because the team had another match against Kazakhstan the following morning. Sasipaporn acknowledged that her performance still contained some inconsistencies, although she was pleased with the team’s overall display and its reduction in errors. Head coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai said Thailand successfully followed the planned tactics but still had several details to improve.

The result gave Thailand two victories, six competition points and a perfect 6–0 set record after its opening matches against Australia and Indonesia. Thailand moved to the top of Pool B and secured progression to the elimination stage. Indonesia fell to a 1–1 record with three points and a 3–3 set record, leaving its final preliminary match against Australia important for its position in the tournament.

Thailand entered the competition as the defending Asian champion after winning the continental title in 2023. The 2026 championship features 12 national teams and is being held in Tianjin from August 21 to August 30. The tournament carries major qualification importance because the champion earns direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, while the leading finishers secure places in the next major world-level competition.

Overall, this was a professional and convincing victory from Thailand. Indonesia displayed energy and determination, but Thailand’s experience, serving pressure, attacking variety and control of the decisive moments produced a clear 3–0 result. Sasipaporn Janthawisut led the scoring, while Thailand’s balanced team performance confirmed its status as one of the leading contenders for the 2026 Asian title.
