Caleb Wilson set the debut Summer League scoring record and I think he came out wanting to prove the shooting doubters wrong immediately. He caught fire, hit tough shots off the catch and the dribble, and the length makes it look even easier.
Here's my question though: was Carolina just holding him back, or is this real development? Combo and I go back and forth on it, because we didn't see this shot making at all in college. I've heard enough stories about college programs boxing guys into a role to believe it could be a mix of both.
I'm not fully sold yet. The release isn't as smooth as I'd like, so I could see him settling in around 32-33% as a rookie before climbing to average NBA range. Still a real surprise, but it's the one thing I'm watching.
And that's really the whole conversation with Cam Boozer too, ceiling versus floor. Wilson's flashing a higher one right now, but Boozer's floor might be the safer bet long term. #shorts
