Katie Ledecky did her thing last night in the women's 1500 Free, taking the win in what was her first international gold medal won on home soil. However, she wasn't without a challenge, as Australia's Lani Pallister was with Ledecky through the first 500, causing Ledecky to take the race out quite quickly. As a result, Ledecky faded a bit (by her standards) over the back half of the race, ultimately finishing in 15:36, 16 seconds off her own world record and personal best. After the race, Ledecky recognized this set of circumstances and said she wouldnt look too much into it going into the rest of the meet.
