Korea vs Hong Kong | Highlights | AVC Women's Continental Championship 2026. Korea completed an impressive comeback against Hong Kong, China, in the preliminary phase of the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship, winning the match 3–1 after dropping the opening set.

The match was played on August 26, 2026, at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium in Tianjin, China. It was the final Pool C match for both teams and carried major importance for Korea, which needed a victory to confirm its place in the quarterfinals.

Korea won with set scores of 20–25, 25–15, 25–11 and 25–18. Across the four sets, Korea outscored Hong Kong 95–69.

Hong Kong entered the match as the underdog but produced a strong opening set. Their disciplined defense and aggressive play caused serious problems for the Korean team, while Korea committed too many attacking errors and struggled to establish a consistent rhythm. Hong Kong took advantage of those mistakes and claimed the first set 25–20, creating one of the most surprising moments of the preliminary phase.

After losing the opening set, Korea responded with important tactical and lineup adjustments. Head coach Cha Sang-hyun introduced Lee Ju-ah and Lee Ye-rim, whose presence helped stabilize Korea’s reception and overall organization. Korea immediately began playing with greater control, improving its first contact and creating better attacking opportunities.

The second set was completely different from the first. Korea increased its serving pressure, reduced its attacking errors and became much more effective at the net. Hong Kong could not maintain the same defensive intensity, allowing Korea to take control and comfortably win the set 25–15.

Korea delivered its most dominant performance in the third set. Their blocking became a decisive weapon, while Hong Kong struggled to find ways past Korea’s organized defense. Korea controlled the set from beginning to end and won it 25–11, moving one set away from the quarterfinals.

Hong Kong showed renewed determination in the fourth set and remained competitive for longer. However, Korea stayed composed during the important rallies and continued to use its superior blocking and attacking power. The Korean team eventually closed the set 25–18 to complete the 3–1 comeback victory.

Outside hitter Yuk Seo-yeon was Korea’s leading scorer with an outstanding 22-point performance. She consistently delivered from the wings and became Korea’s most reliable attacking option throughout the match.

Middle blocker Lee Da-hyeon also produced an excellent all-around performance, contributing 14 points, including four blocks and three service aces. Her presence at the net played a major role in Korea’s turnaround after the opening set.

Blocking was one of the clearest differences between the two teams. Korea recorded 13 blocks compared with only four for Hong Kong. That advantage allowed Korea to control the net and limit Hong Kong’s attacking options during the final three sets.

The victory gave Korea a final Pool C record of two wins and one defeat. Korea had opened its campaign with a 3–1 victory over Vietnam before losing 3–0 to Japan. By defeating Hong Kong, Korea finished second in Pool C behind Japan and secured direct qualification for the quarterfinals.

Korea completed the preliminary phase with six match points, six sets won and five sets lost. The team scored 262 points and conceded 235 across its three group matches.

The result set up a difficult quarterfinal meeting between Korea and defending champion Thailand. Korea entered the knockout stage knowing that it would need to improve its consistency and avoid the slow start that allowed Hong Kong to take control of the opening set.
