The opening set belonged entirely to Poland. From the very first points, the Polish team put enormous pressure on Slovenia's reception with aggressive serving, making it difficult for setter Dejan Vinฤiฤ to organize the fast offense that has become Slovenia's trademark. Poland's blockers dominated at the net, while the outside hitters consistently found ways to score. Wilfredo Leon quickly became the focal point of the attack, combining devastating serves with powerful spikes to help Poland cruise to a comfortable 25โ16 victory.
Slovenia showed a much better level in the second set. Rok Moลพiฤ and Klemen ฤebulj began finding success in attack, while the Slovenian defense produced several spectacular digs that extended rallies and energized the team. Despite the improvement, Poland remained calm during the most important moments. Tomasz Fornal provided stability in reception and attack, Leon continued to pressure Slovenia with his serving, and Poland maintained its offensive efficiency to take the second set 25โ19.
Knowing they were just one set away from another VNL Final, Poland kept the intensity high throughout the third set. Slovenia continued to fight for every point and produced several exciting rallies, refusing to surrender despite the deficit. However, Poland's consistency proved decisive once again. The middle blockers controlled the net, the wing attackers continued scoring at a high percentage, and the team committed very few unforced errors. Poland closed the set 25โ20 to complete an impressive straight-sets victory.
The standout performer of the match was Wilfredo Leon, who once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the world's best players. Leon finished the semifinal with 16 points, including an outstanding six service aces that repeatedly broke Slovenia's reception and gave Poland a significant advantage throughout the match. His serving runs were among the biggest factors behind Poland's dominant performance.
Poland's victory was built on an exceptional team effort. Their serving constantly put Slovenia under pressure, their blocking neutralized many of Slovenia's attacking options, and their balanced offense allowed them to score efficiently from every position on the court. Excellent reception and organized defense enabled Poland to maintain a fast offensive tempo while minimizing mistakes in crucial moments.
Although Slovenia fell in straight sets, the team once again showed determination and resilience. Rok Moลพiฤ and Klemen ฤebulj led the offensive effort, while Slovenia produced several outstanding defensive plays that kept rallies alive. However, Poland's relentless serving pressure prevented Slovenia from consistently running its quick attack and ultimately proved too much to overcome.
Several key factors decided the semifinal. Poland dominated the service line, with Wilfredo Leon leading the way through six aces. Their blocking effectively limited Slovenia's attack, while efficient reception allowed setter Marcin Komenda to distribute the ball freely and keep every attacker involved. Poland also displayed greater consistency during the biggest points of each set, using its championship experience to remain composed under pressure.
