Italy delivered another commanding performance to defeat the Netherlands 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-17) in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League Finals in Macau, China. The defending VNL champions controlled the match from start to finish, becoming the first team to secure a place in the semifinals.

Italy imposed their rhythm immediately with aggressive serving, outstanding blocking, and efficient attacking. The Netherlands showed determination and produced several good rallies, but they struggled to cope with Italy's relentless pressure. Ekaterina Antropova once again led the Italian offense with a match-high 15 points, recording 9 kills, 3 aces, and 3 blocks in another outstanding all-around performance. Captain Myriam Sylla added 11 points with her trademark consistency in attack and reception, while Sarah Fahr contributed 10 points through quick attacks and dominant blocking at the net.

Italy finished ahead in every major statistical category. The Italians recorded 42 attack points compared to the Netherlands' 38, dominated the blocking battle 10-3, fired 7 service aces to the Dutch team's 2, and committed only 10 unforced errors compared to the Netherlands' 16. Those numbers reflected Italy's complete control throughout the match.

Setter Alessia Orro orchestrated Italy's offense brilliantly, distributing the ball to all of her attackers and keeping the Dutch block guessing throughout the contest. Italy's fast middle attacks, disciplined defense, and excellent transition play prevented the Netherlands from establishing any consistent rhythm.

The Netherlands fought hard throughout the match and produced several quality attacking sequences, but Italy's world-class serving repeatedly disrupted their reception. The Dutch attack finished with 38 kills, but they were unable to overcome Italy's superior blocking and defensive organization, while their higher number of unforced errors made it difficult to challenge the reigning champions.

Italy's victory was built on outstanding serving, elite blocking, efficient attacking, disciplined defense, and remarkable composure in every rotation.
