Mats Sundin, the first European-born player drafted 1st overall (1989), the first European captain in Maple Leaf history (1997-2008), an Olympic gold medalist with Team Sweden (2006), a 9x NHL All-Star selection and inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (2012) will be the 2025 Börje Salming Courage Award recipient. The award is presented to a European NHL Alumni member who has been a positive influence in their community and best embodies Börje's lasting legacy of bravery, courage, and dedication both on and off the ice.
