The biggest storyline for Cincinnati is an offense that appears to be hitting its stride. Joe Burrow earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after throwing four touchdowns against Baltimore and posting a perfect 158.3 passer rating in the second half. The Bengals scored 35 unanswered points and enter Sunday leading the NFL in third-down conversion percentage at 50.65%.
Burrow's receiving weapons have been equally impressive. Tee Higgins erupted for 148 yards against Baltimore, while Ja'Marr Chase and Mike Gesicki each found the end zone. Gesicki has caught a touchdown in four consecutive games, establishing a franchise record for a tight end. Chase enters Sunday one touchdown shy of 60 career receiving scores.
Cincinnati should also have opportunities on the ground. Tennessee is allowing 131.1 rushing yards per game and traded All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to Chicago earlier this week. That creates an opportunity for Chase Brown and Samaje Perine to establish balance against a vulnerable Titans defense.
Defensively, the Bengals have emerged as one of the NFL's most disruptive units. Cincinnati's 21 sacks are tied for the league lead, with Boye Mafe and Dexter Lawrence II anchoring an aggressive defensive front. Their challenge Sunday will be containing second-year quarterback Cam Ward and a Tennessee offense showing signs of improvement.
Running back Tony Pollard presents the biggest concern. Pollard rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns against Cleveland last week, providing Tennessee with much-needed offensive production. Cincinnati must contain Pollard while pressuring Ward into uncomfortable situations.
Injuries could complicate Tennessee's afternoon. Rookie receiver Carnell Tate and running back Tyjae Spears have been ruled out, while Calvin Ridley is questionable. Cincinnati will be without safety Kyle Dugger.
Sunday also carries special significance as Bengals legends Bob Trumpy and James Brooks will be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor at halftime.
For Cincinnati, this matchup represents an opportunity to continue building momentum, strengthen its position in the AFC playoff race and demonstrate that its recent resurgence is sustainable.
