When Whit’s not holding down the bullpen, he is often seen immersed in the Boston community, donating funding, time and mentorship across many initiatives and through his teammates’ charitable programs. Among all of his efforts, his community involvement is best highlighted by his commitment to strengthening our long-standing partnership with the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Over the past four seasons, he has championed the role of our Jimmy Fund captain, inspiring and supporting patients and families facing cancer.
Whit’s leadership, both on and off the field, represents the very best of the Boston Red Sox and exemplifies the lasting legacy of the Roberto Clemente Award.
