The Valkyries Went on the Road and Beat the No. 1 Team in the WNBA

Less than a week after losing to the Minnesota Lynx, the Golden State Valkyries went on the road, made their adjustments, and came away with one of the most complete wins of their season. The defense told the whole story. Twelve steals and just 3 fast break points allowed against one of the best transition teams in the WNBA. Ceci and the entire unit were locked in and on the same page from the opening tip. The adjustments from the previous game caught Minnesota off guard and the deflections came because everybody bought in.

Veronica Burton broke down how offensive intentionality was just as important as the defensive effort. The Valkyries were precise about their shot selection, which kept them organized on the back end and made it nearly impossible for the Lynx to get out and run. The message from the previous two days was simple: attention to detail, effort, energy, and urgency from before the game even begins. Against the No. 1 team in the league there is no margin for error. The Valkyries kept the mistakes to a minimum and made Minnesota pay instead.
