Their swim bag isn't a bag. It's a graveyard.

Socks go in there and they do not come out. Towels enter and never return. Somewhere down at the bottom, past the goggles that don't work and a kickboard she "needed," there's a whole civilization I've lost access to.

I've stopped grieving individual socks. I now mourn in pairs. 🕯️

Every load of laundry, I'm one sock short. Every single time. And I KNOW where it is. It's down there. Decomposing. With its friends.
