Why Red Bull’s 2026 slump risks its grip on Max Verstappen
Motorsports
Max Verstappen has always said he’s in Formula 1 for a good time rather than a long time. And recently he has very obviously not been enjoying himself behind the wheel of the Red Bull RB22, which has not only been far behind the all-conquering Mercedes, but was bogged down in the midfield throughout the Chinese Grand Prix weekend.
Verstappen very obviously hates this new era of F1 cars, but he surely hates not winning even more. That's why Red Bull cannot afford for this situation to continue, lest the Nurburgring 'side quests' - one of which he is about to pursue again this weekend - become the prelude to an F1 exit.
