Munetaka Murakami homered to center (415 feet) in the fourth inning, putting the White Sox on the board and tying the game at 1. His 11 home runs are tied with Paul Konerko (11 in 2010) for the most home runs in March/April in White Sox history.
Colson Montgomery singled to right in the sixth inning, scoring Andrew Benintendi to cut the Nationals' lead to 3-2.
Tristan Peters scored Sam Antonacci on a bunt single aided by a Nationals throwing error. Benintendi followed with a sacrifice fly to score Luisangel Acuña, giving Chicago a 4-3 lead in the seventh.
Antonacci hit a sacrifice fly to left in the eighth inning, scoring Vargas for the go-ahead run and a 5-4 White Sox advantage.
