After years of competitive golf and playing to a + handicap, I’ve learned that the “traditional” 14-club setup isn’t always the smartest setup. Some clubs are simply too difficult to hit consistently, while others might not serve a real purpose in your bag.

We’ll cover why certain long clubs can cost you shots, why forgiveness matters more than ego, a common wedge setup I think many golfers should reconsider, and the “ghost club” almost every golfer has hiding in their bag.

The goal isn’t to tell you there’s one perfect set of golf clubs. It’s to help you build a bag that gives you more confidence, more forgiveness, and ultimately helps you shoot lower scores without changing your swing.
