The men's 5k was a last lap thriller, with Americans Parker Wolfe, Nico Young, and Graham Blanks going for it in the final lap. Birhanu Balew ultimately took the win in 12:57.55. Wolfe (12:58.20), Young (12:58.33), and Blanks (12:59.16) would finish second, third, and fourth, respectively.
