Why Sergio De Larrea is Becoming Undeniable for the Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks rookie Sergio De Larrea has opened NBA preseason with 20 points, 10 assists and solid shooting from three, and his playmaking is forcing his way into the Mavs rotation next to Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg. Why did the Dallas Mavericks trade up for Sergio De Larrea, and what does the Mavs guard rotation look like heading into the NBA season?

Nick Angstadt and Isaac Harris break down every pass Sergio De Larrea has made in preseason, his size and fit as a big point guard, and player comps from Ricky Rubio and LaMelo Ball to Josh Giddey and Lonzo Ball. They also discuss Kyrie Irving trade rumors, Marcus Sasser’s injury, Naji Marshall getting set up as a guard, and how Daniel Gafford, Tobi Lawal and Morez Johnson Jr. benefited from Sergio’s passing. Plus a look back at last year’s point guards, D’Angelo Russell, Tyus Jones, Ryan Nembhard and Brandon Williams, and what the front office of Masai Ujiri and Mike Schmitz signaled by not adding another point guard.
