Nothing humbles a swim family like one little hand signal from the stroke judge.

One minute you're cheering a best time, the next the DQ flag goes up and the whole section goes silent. The heat sheet suddenly feels personal, the taper felt wasted, and somehow you're mentally replaying the exchange in slow motion for the rest of the meet.
