Was Daniil Medvedev’s default the right call?
On Episode 58 of The Big T Podcast, Mark Petchey and Andrea Petkovic debate the punishment Medvedev received after an errant ball struck a spectator late in his Beijing Open semifinal against Novak Djokovic.
Petko recalls advice from her own coach about why hitting a ball into the crowd crosses a line that smashing a racquet doesn’t, as the pair discuss Medvedev’s punishment and where responsibility falls in moments like these.
Plus, Petch and Petko break down Djokovic’s statement run to the Beijing title and ask the bigger question: he’s proven he can still dominate — but can he sustain this level?
