Hot Rocks, Scuba Diving a volcanic Island
During the underwater adventures dive clubs trip to Komodo nation park we were lucky enough to scuba diving a site called hot rocks which is the part of an active volcano which actually erupted (a little) while we were scuba diving it.
Has you can see from the video, volcanic gas is escaping from the ground all through this dive site and it is hot gas which is cooled by the water but if you catch it in your cupped hand to can feel the heat of the volcanic gas. This escaping gas bring loads of extra nutrients into the water to create the best and most vibrant coral I have even seen.
This video was taken on a go pro 10 but I have not edited the colour settings in any way, these are the colours we saw underwater and as you can see the colours, the reds, Yellows, and greens are so dynamic, even below 10 metres, it was truly amazing to see for yourself.
There was also plenty of marine life there which were also very colourful and if you pause the video carefully towards the end you can try and spot one the the 3 pygmy seahorses on the Gorgonian sea fan.
