THE MIAMI HEAT DID IT AGAIN! Ian Schieffelin Is Their Next Breakout Star!

The Miami Heat may have done it AGAIN! 🔥

In this episode of Miami Heat Talk, we’re talking about one of the most intriguing young players fighting for an opportunity in Miami — Ian Schieffelin.

Schieffelin, an undrafted forward out of Clemson, has continued to show why the Miami Heat were interested in bringing him into their organization. The 6-foot-8 forward impressed during Summer League and then followed that up with an absolutely incredible preseason performance against the Toronto Raptors.

In just 10 minutes, Schieffelin scored 11 points while shooting a PERFECT 4-for-4 from the field, including 1-for-1 from three-point range, while also grabbing 3 rebounds and dishing out an assist.

And this wasn’t necessarily a fluke.

During the 2026 Summer League, Schieffelin appeared in five games between the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 8.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.0 minutes per game while shooting 46.7% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range.

He also had a huge Summer League performance against Milwaukee, scoring 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three, while adding four rebounds.

But what makes Schieffelin especially fascinating is his background.

He was a standout basketball player at Clemson, but after exhausting his basketball eligibility, he actually played football for Clemson as a tight end. He brings that unusual two-sport background, size, toughness, basketball IQ and versatility into the Heat organization.

Now the question is:

Did Miami just find another undrafted diamond in the rough? 💎🔥

The Heat have developed a reputation for finding players who were overlooked by the rest of the league and turning them into legitimate NBA contributors. Schieffelin obviously still has a LOT to prove, and one preseason game doesn’t make someone an NBA star.

But the flashes are there.

The size.
The shooting.
The toughness.
The basketball IQ.
The ability to make plays without dominating the ball.

And now he’s getting an opportunity to show the Miami Heat coaching staff what he can do.

Could Ian Schieffelin become the NEXT Miami Heat undrafted breakout player?

That’s what we’re discussing today on Miami Heat Talk!
