Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac), Noah Bieniek (@NoahB77_) and Troy Chewning (@Troychewning) break down the Big 12 basketball preview for 2026-27 and go through all 16 teams. All three have Houston winning the league, and Ryan McIntyre has his Mountaineers cracking the top five.
It starts with stock up and stock down. Noah Bieniek buys Baylor after Scott Drew's worst year in ages, with Jerome Tang back as associate head coach and the Mingo brothers, Kaden and Dylan, running the backcourt. Troy Chewning likes BYU as addition by subtraction, and Ryan McIntyre goes homer with West Virginia in year two under Ross Hodge. On the way down, Noah Bieniek fades Kansas over the eligibility questions around Trey White, Melvin Council and TKR after two home scrimmage losses. Troy Chewning has UCF sliding, and Ryan McIntyre sends Colorado back to the basement.
The top of the board is close to unanimous. Houston is the pick for all three, with Arizona and Iowa State rounding out everyone's top three. The big split is Kansas. Ryan McIntyre and Troy Chewning trust Bill Self at four, while Noah Bieniek drops the Jayhawks to eighth and puts Texas Tech fourth, even with JT Toppin not expected back until February. Oklahoma State lands 12th on all three boards and Utah sits 16th across the board.
Then come the awards. Ryan McIntyre and Noah Bieniek both take Iowa State to win the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, and Troy Chewning rides Kansas for one last Bill Self run. For player of the year, Noah Bieniek takes Arizona's Ivan Kharchenkov and Ryan McIntyre goes with Kansas freshman Tyren Stokes. The coach of the year picks are Jared Calhoun at Cincinnati for Noah Bieniek, Kelvin Sampson for Troy Chewning, and Ross Hodge for Ryan McIntyre if the Mountaineers make the top five. Noah Bieniek also expects this league to land 12 or 13 NCAA tournament bids.
