Why Mavs Fans Are Upset Kyrie Irving Didn't Play in the Home Opener + Sergio De Larrea(!)

The Dallas Mavericks lost their NBA home opener to the San Antonio Spurs, 122-106, after Kyrie Irving was a late scratch and Cooper Flagg sat out. Did the Mavs owe fans an earlier warning about Kyrie Irving, and what did Sergio de Larrea’s 21-point breakout show about the Dallas Mavericks’ young guards?

Nick Angstadt is joined by Slightly Biased to break down why Kyrie Irving sat on the second night of a back-to-back, how fans reacted, and whether the NBA schedule is to blame. They dig into strong nights from Daniel Gafford, Naji Marshall, Marcus Sasser, Zaccharie Risacher, and Walter Clayton Jr., plus PJ Washington, Morez Johnson Jr.’s minutes restriction, and the Mavs’ rebounding without Dereck Lively II. Isaac Harris also checks in from the AAC with Dusty May’s take on Risacher, and the guys discuss Mavs GM Mike Schmitz’s Walter Clayton Jr. signing and how the bench could look once the stars return.
