The Yankees defeated Boston, 9-0, in AL Wild Card Series Game 1 on September 29, 2026. Ben Rice went 4-for-5 and drove in six of the Yankees’ nine runs, including a solo home run in the fifth inning, an RBI single in the seventh inning, and a grand slam in the eighth inning. Ben's 6 RBI matched the most by a Yankee in a postseason game in franchise history.

In his third postseason start, Cam Schlittler became the sixth pitcher to record two scoreless postseason starts with at least 10K. He joins Justin Verlander (3), Sandy Koufax (2), Kevin Brown (2), Randy Johnson (2) and Cliff Lee (2). Cam Schlittler’s 0.47 ERA is the lowest ERA by a pitcher in his first 6 career starts against Boston (including playoffs, since ER became official in 1913).
