The Enhanced Games Were Kinda Slow
“A new global sports competition where elite athletes push the limits of human performance” that is how the Enhanced website describes the Enhanced Games, a multisport competition featuring weightlifting, track events, and what we’re most interested in here: swimming, where the use of performance enhancing drugs is allowed. The goal of the event is pretty easy to guess, to let athletes enhance themselves as much as they want and in the case of swimming wear now banned tech suits to try and do things no one ever has before. And for Enhanced the goal is that after watching these so called super humans in action YOU’LL decide you should enhance yourself and go buy all the products you need on their website. Which makes it all the more interesting that overall the swimming events weren’t THAT fast, there were some notable outliers and a fair few swims that would be respectable at a pro level, but it was a far cry from what many may have imagined after taking already elite athletes and giving them so many advantages. But why is that? Well we’re going to look through the winners of all nine swimming events from the Enhanced Games to analyze how exactly these performances measure up against the all time ranks and explore the reasons why we didn’t see every world record SMASHED.
