Before and After a Driver Fitting with Titleist | Solving The Puzzle with Me and My Golf

Driver was both the strength and weakness of Ram’s game, mostly because it was easier to leave it in the bag. Ram works with Titleist experts to find the right Titleist clubs in this episode of Solving the Puzzle.

The best shots had speed, but the flight was hard to trust. With an 8-degree upward attack angle and spin dropping as low as 1,200 RPM, the ball could lose stability quickly. A shot that started right could keep going. A shot that turned left could dive out of the air. The result was a driver that felt powerful, but not always playable.

Ram did not need to chase more distance first. He needed a setup that gave the ball enough spin to stay in the air and enough face control to keep the miss from getting away from him.

The fit moves through the loft, head model, center of gravity, setup changes and weight positioning until the club starts working more naturally with Ram’s delivery. Added loft helps create a more playable spin window. The GTS3 setup gives the fitter more control over CG and face behavior. A more upright setting and heel-weighted position help the head turn over without Ram having to force it.

Once the pieces come together, the flight tells the story. The ball holds its line. The face closes at the right time. The driver no longer looks like a club Ram has to protect against.

Ball speed reaches 153.3 MPH, carry climbs to 266 yards, total distance reaches 290 yards, and the club that once stayed in the bag starts looking like one he wants to hit on every hole.
