Yankees Turn to Cam Schlittler to Save Their Season (and it Won’t Sound Like a Home Game)

The Yankees wasted a dominant pitching performance in Game 1 against the Rays, managing just one hit in a brutal 1-0 loss. Adam Weinrib breaks down Austin Wells’ indefensible base running mistake, Aaron Boone’s response and why New York’s recurring problems with fundamentals and pressing in October remain so frustrating.

Then Adam digs into a much bigger issue: the Yankees’ long history of failing to put meaningful pressure on opposing aces in the postseason. Drew Rasmussen was nearly perfect, but after years of similar performances against Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and others, when does “tip your cap” stop being enough? Now the Yankees need an answer immediately because Cam Schlittler takes the ball in Game 2 with New York desperately needing its ace to deliver and its offense to finally put up a fight.
