Femke Broeders-Bol took bronze in the women's 800m final at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, running 1:55.54 to equal the Dutch national record and win her first ever championship medal in the event. Switzerland's Audrey Werro won gold in a championships-record 1:54.81, and Britain's Keely Hodgkinson took silver in 1:55.01.
It was Femke's first European Championship 800m final, in her first ever season racing the distance. Three months ago she was known primarily as the two-time reigning world champion in the 400m hurdles — an event she has dominated since 2022. Now she owns a European bronze at 800m and an equalled national record in an event she barely raced before this year.
